Salamander Resort and Spa opened in August in Middleburg, Va. The 168-room resort set on 340 acres in the heart of Virginia wine country offers planners everything from luxury accommodations to customizable meeting packages with plenty of teambuilding activities.
The countryside property offers several options for meetings—a 5,000 sq. ft. The ballroom seats 500 theater-style and has a 7,000 sq. ft. Terrace that extends from the ballroom’s foyer. For more intimate functions, a 1,800 sq. ft. Junior ballroom is available, as executive boardrooms and breakout rooms, hospitality suites, and a 2,000 sq. ft. Presidential suite with an entertainment balcony—the 110,000 sq. ft. Grand Lawn is ideal for groups wanting to get outside. Plenty of leisure options also are available to guests. The resort’s culinary program, led by Chef Todd Gray of D.C.’s Equinox restaurant, includes the following:
- Two restaurants.
- A wine bar.
- A cooking studio.
- A two-acre culinary garden where guests pick their produce for cooking classes.
There also is a spa with 14 treatment rooms and a couples suite. Guests can enjoy tennis courts, an outdoor pool complex, and playing privileges at the nearby Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. An on-site equestrian center includes a 22-stall barn, practice ring, riding trails, and instructional classes. A meeting package designed around its location in wine and horse country lets planners choose from one of three daytime equestrian activities, such as trail rides or shows, and three evening wine-based functions, such as an interactive wine dinner in the cooking studio.
