While authorities in Boston and the nation’s capital continue their investigations into the most recent Tragedy on the streets of one of our major cities, our editors are reaching out to meet professionals and security officials at hotels, convention centers, arenas, and other venues to determine what more can be done to secure our events and prepare our response to such acts of violence.
Amid our work and the reminders that we cannot let the threat of violence stop us from the business of living, we urge you to remember the victims of these bombings and their families in your thoughts, prayers, and actions, whatever your faith or politics.
We are now planning to add more emergency preparedness sessions to our upcoming events. We will continue to report on measures being taken by cities, CVBs, venues, and event planners, especially those who manage or host significant sports events. If you have any suggestions you’d like to share or experiences that might help others in our industry, we invite you to contact our editors.
As meeting professionals, we bring people together and inspire change. Let’s work together to improve the safety of our event participants, educate others, and, through our unity and measured response, bring some sense of control and sanity to the chaos that terrorists and other criminals hope to create.
