Known for injecting a little magic wherever it goes, the staff at Disney treats meetings at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., and Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., as meticulously as it treats its theme park experiences. The Disney Event Group is the resort’s meeting planning division, and it can help planners create a custom dinner, opening reception, lunch, entertainment day, or entire meeting program. The staff at Disney Event Group has access to things other venues can only dream about: theme park venues, thousands of costumes, top-notch audiovisual technology, and Mickey and Minnie and their friends. The event group also offers workshops, behind-the-scenes tours, and guest speakers from the Disney Institute, the park’s in-house professional development program. “We subscribe to Walt Disney’s belief that entertainment is no enemy to education,” says George Aguel, senior vice president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Field tours introduce corporate meeting attendees to Disney as a company, allowing it to serve as a case study and example for how-to and educational sessions.
