Packing for familiarization trips can be challenging—particularly with footwear as FAMs mix business with pleasure and a ton of walking to boot (pun intended). To make it easier, we’ve compiled five pairs of shoes to add to your packing list the next time you’re headed on a multiday site visit.
1. Your Go-To Shoe
When it comes to travel footgear, the versatile Tieks by Gavrieli are a planner’s dream. Not only can these ballet flats be dressed up or down, their split-sole design allows them to fold in half, making them easy to throw into a purse or carry-on without sacrificing space. Made with Italian leather, hand-stitched insoles and nonskid rubber soles, Tieks come in so many hues they could make up the color spectrum. $175+
2. Walk the Walk
You can’t go on a site visit without a good pair of walking shoes. Our faves right now are Nike’s Free RN Flyknit, which come in a variety of colors including pink, orange, violet and blue. (You can also design your own custom pair online.) Constructed to stretch in all directions upon impact, this shoe gives flexibility for your feet to act naturally. Don’t bother throwing these kicks in your suitcase—they’re so comfy, you’ll want to sport them at the airport too. $130
3. Business as Usual
When it’s time to take care of business, all you need is a classic pair of Mary Janes. Trotters, a brand that prides itself on fashion-forward comfort, makes a kitten heel you could walk in all day: The Petra comes in several colors including red suede, black leather and patent nude. The heel is only 2 inches tall and has Trotters’ Comfort Cup built in to the insole to reduce stress upon impact. $115
