In 1992, Roger T. Helms says he had an “aha” moment when he realized how much clients could benefit from the industry knowledge that he and others like him had gained over the years to help them find suitable meeting venues with the best contracts and rates. That’s when he founded HelmsBriscoe, a global leader in meeting procurement. Helms, who currently serves as CEO, has been named on multiple occasions to Business Travel News’ list of the 25 Most Influential Executives of the Business Travel Industry.

Helms on the Future of Meetings

“The last six to seven years have been challenging for the meetings industry, and we are emerging stronger than before. I see a renewed focus on the attendee experience, both on-site and before and after the meeting. Companies have challenged the value that meetings and events deliver and, as a result, have confirmed the value of well-orchestrated, face-to-face interaction. In five years, I see the meetings and events industry becoming more robust, integrated, and efficient, with customized attendee experiences and more powerful outcomes. Our industry has also become better at articulating the importance of what we do for the overall economy. This positive development over the next five years should help us garner the political support an industry of our size warrants.”
