A $35 million expansion and renovation are underway at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio. The project will almost double the resort’s indoor event space, add new outdoor function space and update its guest rooms. Currently, the resort has more than 35,000 square feet of meeting space, which will be increased to 70,000 square feet when the expansion is complete. The additional space will include a 20,000 sq. ft. Ballroom divisible into eight separate areas. The event space will echo the hotel’s design with tall windows, iron light fixtures, and natural stone details. Leather rocking chairs will be placed in the new pre-function space added to the 13,590-sq.-ft. Hill Country Ballroom is currently the hotel’s most significant event space. A 7,260-sq.-ft. Landscaped courtyard complete with a stacked limestone fireplace, iron light fixtures, and wicker seating will enhance the resort’s outdoor space. Additionally, a 5,000 sq. ft. Event lawn connected to the new ballroom will provide an outdoor venue for receptions or teambuilding events.

The resort’s 500 guest rooms and suites are the final part of the renovation and will receive new decor inspired by the surrounding Texas Hill Country, Hyatt Grand Bed mattresses, and updated bathrooms. The property will tie in its history with chenille throws in each room that replicates the pattern of “Papa Ed,” Wiseman’s favorite horse blanket; Wiseman’s family owned the resort site and surrounding ranchland for more than 100 years. Artwork in the guest rooms will incorporate vintage family photos and ranch-themed pieces. The entire renovation and expansion will be finished in the fall.
