What I do: I manage and oversee high-profile events and meetings from inception to completion. There is no typical day; one day, I could be working on an event budget, coming up with an event concept and design, or being on the phone with Secret Service planning security for a VIP.
How I got here: I got into events accidentally, as my background was in public relations with a focus on radio. Although I had worked in media rooms at national conventions and witnessed event planners at work, it was when I got into the industry that I realized this was my true calling. My first opportunity was assisting in planning a large national Hispanic convention. I then realized the need for multicultural event planners who understood this market, so I decided to work with clients who needed that help.
My greatest career accomplishment: I have worked with every sitting U.S. president since Bill Clinton and several other heads of state. To think I began this business by myself ten years ago and accomplished that within the first decade is an immense pride.
Impressive stats: We typically come in under budget for every client event. Throughout the event planning process, we are consistently looking at the costs and coming up with creative ways to stretch the budget and make it work. Saving money is one of our client’s most critical deliverables.
