Judy Renfroe’s tourism and hospitality career has spanned 40 years, 13 of which were in hotels, 21 with CVBs, and six with her own consulting company. “I can’t imagine another career offering greater satisfaction,” she says. “I have enjoyed every aspect of this industry, from setting up meeting rooms in Birmingham, Alabama, to writing marketing plans for a resort in St. Croix.” At various times, Renfroe has served as president of the Atlanta Metro Travel Association and the Georgia Association of CVBs. She also did a two-year stint as a DMO representative for the National Tour Association. “She has cultivated the careers of many individuals throughout her career,” says Melissa Legaux of the Atlanta CVB. “She is more than happy to introduce her proteges to top-level industry executive contacts, who she refers to as friends, in hopes of inspiring them to reach their full potential in their careers.”

Renfroe on the Future of Meetings

“Technology has changed the dynamics of selling and managing events. Face-to-face sales call and asking for the business is no longer the norm. Planners want instant information and quotes, and today’s savvy business tools can give them the information promptly. It is up to today’s workforce to make sure they remain relevant by establishing strong business relationships.”
