D.C. area hotel reopens after conversion

The Sheraton Silver Spring Hotel in Silver Spring, Md., located a few miles north of Washington, D.C., is open after a $5 million conversion of the former Crowne Plaza property. The newly renovated 229-room hotel features guest rooms with oversized work desks, high-speed Internet, LCD flat-panel TVs and Sheraton Sweet Sleeper beds. The hotel has nearly 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space, a full-service restaurant and lounge, and fitness facility.

The upgraded lobby includes the Link@Sheraton experience with Microsoft, a multimedia and social networking hub where guests can meet face-to-face or communicate through webcams. Hotel guests can easily explore all the major attractions of Washington, D.C., by way of the Silver Spring Metro Station, three blocks from the hotel.
